It's been a busy couple of months but at last I put some new work in the portfolio section. Wish I could put some more work up, but most projects I worked on aren't published yet. It's the opening day of the exhibition 'Grow Ups' in Japan! I have posted the work I made in the portfoliosection below. For the Dutch exhibition of Grow-ups in 2008 I made a series of six graphic worlds full of fairytale imagery. It was titled Good Always Wins. For the Japanese exhibition I tried to create a world even more positive than the previous version. And I created an A0 sized world depicting fairytale characters. It's a world where good unmistakably has the upper hand. With this new piece I try to make you believe in my universe, a place where good always wins, even if it is for just one second..

It's been a busy year : )
I've worked for numerous clients, made a bunch of screenprints, set up my webstore, designed a couple of tees, exhibited my work, and much to my suprise saw a cover I made on Dutch (DWDD) TV.
I'd like to thank everyone for their support the past year and I can't wait to make 2010 an even better year. Happy New Year!

Digital Playground asked me to create this years look for their character/mascotte Dig-E. Digital Playground is an organization that lets young people get acquainted with art and (image) culture and lets them experiment with digital media. Luuk Bode created the original logo character. Raoul Deleo, Darrin Umboh and Mark Verhaagen have created a new look for Dig-E these past years. I'm very proud to follow in their footsteps.

I'ts been a while since you've heard from me, which means things have been really hectic around here. A couple of things I worked on and am working on are: a selection of handmade screenprints that will be available soon, a six page 'graphic novel' for the Willem de Kooning Art Academy's Magazine Rex#01, a birth announcement card, the new look for Digital Playground's Dig-E and a new project of mine: "Fuji Fumi" that will see the light of day in a performance on the 13th of october at Rotterdam's Visual Arts Centre Tent. I'll try to keep you updated more often. Really, I'll try :)

The Connected exhibition opens the 5th of march at the Academisch Genootschap (Academic Society) in the city of Eindhoven. It all started with one semi-blank poster that was given to three designers, they passed it on to two, who in their turn passed it on to two others (this is where I came in), who passed it on to two other designers who had the rewarding task of finishing the poster. Counted correctly you'll find that this project ends in 24 different poster designs that'll be shown at this exhibition. Go to connected-project.nl to see the posters 'journey through design'.

This is the third year I designed all the artwork for the High School Music Competition. I've designed the logo, flyers, posters, buttons, characters and t-shirt designs. PWS is a Housing Organisation that also organises social projects. One of these projects is Wij in de Wijk (We in the Neighbourhood) a project where children use their skills, such as coaching soccer to grown-ups, to create a greater sense of community in their neighbourhood. PWS asked me to create the logo, flyer, poster and a webtemplate for this project. The great thing about this project was that the kids had a big say in the early stages of design. When you design for kids it's really nice to get their feedback.
